Veteran Congress leader and former finance minister P Chidambaram has been summoned by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for questioning on 6th June 2018 in the INX media scam.
As per sources, Chidambaram was called for questioning in the case on last Thursday, but he asked for another day.

Chidambaram is accused of involvement in connection with alleged irregularities in the clearance of foreign investment in INX media. His alleged role has come under the scanner of the premier investigating agency of the country in connection with the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance of Rs 305 crore in 2007 to INX Media.
Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) is the nodal agency for granting approvals to companies to have foreign funds. Chidambaram was the finance minister of India at that time.
INX media was a joint venture of former media baron Peter Mukerjea and his wife Indrani Mukherjee. Both Indrani Mukherjee and Peter Mukherjea in their statement said that they had paid over INR 3 crore in bribe to Karti at the instance of Chidambaram.
As per reliable source, it has come to know that CBI will interrogate Chidambaram about FIPB approval, the bribe amount and his meeting with Mukherjee. It could not be ascertained if CBI has plans to arrest Chidambaram senior or not.
On 31st May 2018, the High Court had given him interim protection from arrest till July 3 in the case. He was asked by Justice AK Pathak to join questioning and cooperate in the investigation of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
CBI had registered a FIR on May 15, 2017, against alleged irregularities in the FIPB clearance to INX Media.
His son Karti Chidambaram was also arrested in the matter on February 28 for allegedly receiving Rs 10 Lakhs funds in the case. However, he was granted bail on 23 March.
