In the recently concluded Panchayat Elections in Bengal, it was quite evident that BJP is definitely coming with more electoral base. In several areas, where the ruling TMC has failed to win in spite of ‘election management’, BJP has topped the list with more popular votes. It was of no surprise that TMC came second in many areas of the Jungal Mahal, the Maoist dominated of the areas.

The Panchayat Election results have underlined the fact that rampant corruption within the ranks of the ruling party have not favoured the party at all in the election mandate.
The mysterious death of 18 year old Trilochan Mahato has been a matter of heated debato day, which has yet again embarrassed the ruling party regarding its grip on the sequence of political events in the states like Purulia, Bankura or Paschim Medinipur.
18 year old Trilochan Mahato‘s dead body was found hanging from a tree near his home in Balarampur in Purulia district, about 295 kilometre from Kolkata. An unsigned handwritten note in Bengali was found near the body which stated that he was ‘punished for working for the BJP’. No doubt, the incident invited strong criticism from all quarters, especially from the BJP.
Party chief Amit Shah was vocal against the incident and remarked that the killing has ‘surpassed the violent legacy of the communist rule’. Let’s not forget that the unsigned letter found near the body read,”Because you are involved with the BJP even when you are only 18 years, it has claimed your life. I have been searching for you since the Panchayat Elections and now you are dead.”
There is no denying the fact that this incident has shamed the ruling party more than anyone else. As of now, there is no concrete proof to say that the letter is right or fake or the killing is a politically motivated one or not. Anyhow, BJP is definitely backing up its supporter base in the jungle and the alleged killing of Trilochan Mahato has indicated the sad reality of politics in Bengal.
