Did Major Leetul Gogoi Fake Identity To Meet Kashmiri Girl?

Major Leetul Gogoi, who came into the news in the stone pelting episode, is in media limelight for all the wrong reasons. Recently, the Army Major was associated with an unforeseen incident which associated a Kashmiri girl. According to Mohammad Ahsan Untoo, who is Chairman of International Forum for Justice and Human Rights (IFJHR), the Army Jawan got into an ‘immoral act‘.

According to Jammu & Kashmir police, Major Leetul Gogoi faked as a Muslim youth and also roped in services of another army soldier Sameer Malla from Khar village of Budgam district, to stay with a Kashmiri girl at a hotel in Srinagar.

The Army Jawan and the soldier allegedly fought with the staff of the hotel when they were denied entry in the room. The application in this case was recently moved under section 156(3) of Criminal Procedure Code (CRPC). Anyhow, the Kashmiri girl is not a minor according to her Aadhar card.

According to the police forces, the girl was not aware of the fake identity of Major Leetul Gogoi and only came to know that he was an army man a month back. According to the statement given by the girl to the police, Majkr Leetul Gogoi took the name Ubaid Arman in Facebook.

There is no denying the fact that Major Gogoi’s alleged involvement in the case is embarrassing for the Army. Last year during the elections on Srinagar parliamentary seat, he tied Farooq Ahnad Dar, a local Kashmiri youth, to the bonnet of a vehicle and paraded him on the streets in Budgam. Some people are already saying that the incident with regard to Kashmiri girl has been framed to defame General Leetul Gogoi. The truth can only come out if a transparent investigation is carried out.
