Everytime footage comes in national or international media that stonepelters are hurling stones at the police or army jawans, there is an apprehension that the local youth could have been utilised in sports and games. Thankfully, Real Kashmir FC, a football club from the state, has defeated Hindusthan FC to gain promotion to the I-League yesterday.

No doubt, they became the first club from Jammu & Kashmir to achieve this unique feat. Now this team from the valley will be playing with the big boys of the nation and will be in the look out to give superlative performances to get auctioned in ISL.

Going into final game of the season, both Real Kashmir FC and Hindusthan FC were tied on four points ahead of the game. The Jammu & Kashmir team needed only a draw to clinch the title. After a sea saw battle, the Real Kashmir team defeated 3-2 as Ifham Tariq Mir, Danish Farooq and Nadong Bhutia scored for the team.

Although the scoresheet shows it to be nail biting finish, in reality, the Hindusthan FC team had more sting in the game. Credit goes to the Kashmir team for holding on their nerves.

There is no denying the fact that qualification of Real Kashmir FC team will resume regular football matches in the valley. For obvious reasons, the top teams of I League like East Bengal, Mohun Bagan are going to come in the valley for away matches. This is no doubt going to bring a new wave for the people of Kashmir, especially the younger generation.
