Baba Ramdev Brings Swadeshi SIM Cards With BSNL
After making a successful entry in the consumer goods market, now Patanjali announced that it is entering the telecom sector with the launch of Swadeshi Samriddhi SIM cards. In a function in New Delhi Baba Ramdev unveiled Swadeshi SIM Cards as a part of a partnership with state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited.

Yoga guru Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali offered a phone SIM card. The user would be able to make unlimited calls across the country and will get 2 GB data pack and send 100 SMSs with a recharge of just Rs 144.  Initially benefits of the SIM cards would only be availed by Patanjali employees and office bearers but later on the full-fledged launch of the card, the public can avail a discount of 10 percent on Patanjali products.
This not alone people can also get the benefits of health, accidental and life insurances coverages through this card. “The card comes with the medical and life insurance covers of INR 2.5 lakh and INR 5 lakh, respectively,” said the Yoga Guru. The motive of the both Patanjali and government-owned BSNL is the welfare of the country. These cards can be procured from the five lakh counters of BSNL across the country revealed Ramdev.

The new plan appears cost-effective, but it doesn’t seem to compete against present peers. Airtel offers one GB data day, unlimited calling and 100 SMSes plan at Rs 99 for 28 days. Jio offers 2 GB of data per day, 300 SMSes, and unlimited voice calling benefits at Rs 98 for 28 days. Vodafone has same plan at Rs 95.
Present on the occasion was Sunil Garg, Chief General Manager BSNL. He praised the tie-up of Patanjali and BSNL.Patanjali Ayurved reported a 53.7 percent jump in its net profit at Rs 1,193.8 crore for the year ended March 2017.

The telecom sector is bleeding for some years, especially after the entry of Mukesh Ambani owned Reliance Jio, that introduced unlimited voice calls and almost 1 GB internet data per day for a price as low as Rs 100 per month.

Now the curious question at this moment that everyone wants to ask is, after telecom, what next? Is it realty sector or E-commerce sector?
