Mayawati Wants To Continue As Party Chief For Another 20 Years

BSP supremo and former Chief Minister of US Mayawati re-announced changes in the party constitution, which bar her brother from continuing as its vice president while letting her remain the national president till she is too old for that responsibility.

Addressing a meeting in Lucknow party’s national office bearers, she said she will continue to lead the Bahujan Samaj Party for the next 20 to 22 years. She told party leaders that nobody needed to dream of becoming the party president. She also announced major organisational changes and indicated that the BSP was willing to contest any coming election on its own unless they get good seat-sharing arrangements.

Sha also said that she had made some minor changes in the BSP constitution last year to involve her younger brother into party work on the request of party leaders. She denied the allegations media that like Congress Party she is also trying to promote her family members.
Mentioning about her brother she said that her brother would work only as a common worker in the interest of the party and no close relative of the national president will hold any position in the party.

The new national president will take over the charges of the party after the incumbent president unable to continue with field duties, she said. Besides that, the new BSP national president will be appointed on the advice of the outgoing leader.

On the possible alliances with other parties, she said urged the party leaders to be prepared for any situation. For any alliances in UP and other states, she told the party leaders to be prepared to face any situation.

At the swearing-in ceremony of Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy Mayawati was one of the leaders trying for the unity of the opposition party. She appointed RS Kushwaha as the President of Uttar Pradesh. Two senior leaders Vir Singh and Jai Prakash Singh were made national coordinators.

She also urged the party leaders to strengthen the BSP base among the ‘sarv samaj’ and concentrate their attention on Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh where assembly elections are to be held before 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Mayawati warned them against any design to split the party vote among Dalits, Adivasi, Backwards, Muslim and other religious minorities.
