After Ram Jethmalani, Who Is Going To Defend Arvind Kejriwal In The Rs 10 Crore Defamation Case?

After Ram Jethmalani, Who Is Going To Defend Arvind Kejriwal In The Rs 10 Crore Defamation Case?

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is in huge embarrassment right now as he is not getting advocates to stand for him in the Rs 10 crore defamation case.

Incidentally, it was veteran advocate Ram Jethmalani who defended the perpetual Modi-Hater when Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley filed defamation case for being insulted by Arvind Kejriwal. Arvind Kejriwal accused the finance minister of corruption during his tenure as president of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) for 13 years since 2000.

Previously it was indeed surprising to see that senior advocate Ram Jethmalani, who was once closely associated with BJP, decided to defend the Delhi CM.

Later he made a faux pas by calling Arun Jaitley a ‘crook’ and later acknowledged that he said that as told by Arvind Kejriwal. Most embarrassingly, suddenly, Ram Jethmalani decided to discontinue the case and publicly asked for the immediate settling of his legal fees amounting to more than Rs 2 crore.

Most recently, Anoop George Chaudhari who was scheduled to appear for the Aap Aadmi Party (AAP) party leader, has declined to accept the offer. No doubt, Arvind Kejriwal is in a fix as he is not getting advocates to stand for him in the court. Certainly, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has got a moral victory in this case and he is definitely looking forward to winning this case handsomely.

Here is the copy of the letter..!!!

This is to inform you that I shall no longer be able to appear for Defendant No 1 Arvind Kejriwal and am withdrawing from the case due to the inadequate briefing which resulted in an embarrassing situation before Justice Endlaw on 12th of February. In spite of being aware of justice Endlaw’s judgment disallowing suggestions being put to the witness in civil matters, questions were prepared by you which contained numerous suggestions to be put to Mr Jaitley. The order passed by Justice Manmohan in appeal in regard to summing of DDCA minute book, was not brought to my knowledge (this order was shown for the first time in court during the case on 12th Feb.) this order seals your option of summoning of DDCA minute book, Justice Endlaw observed this on the last date. Because of this lackadaisical & casual approach in the briefing, the defendant is bound to suffer and I most certainly would not like to be a party to do it.
