Florida High School Killing: Will Mass Shootings Ever End In America?

The recent Incident of mass shooting at a Florida High School killing 17 people has yet again highlighted the sad reality of US gun control diktat. Nikolas Cruz, a former student of the school, who shared disturbing content on social media before the shooting, is just another example of a long list of mass shooters. This Nikolas Cruz in last September posted in social media, “I’m going to be a professional school shooter.”

The Florida incident isn’t a separate one, rather yet another incident of a chain of incidents, US has become attuned to. There are two aspects of this whole massacre. First and foremost, regulation of gun control laws is more needed than anytime ever.

Side by side, mental health of a person is also another issue which demands special attention in this regard. The main accused Nikolas Cruz had disciplinary issues and had so many incidents of trouble previously. Even he was getting treatment in a clinic and was in a sort of depression as he lost his adopted parents a few months back.

The biggest question going around has been how this guy managed to acquire a high power AR-15 rifle! Considering the fact that this guy had troubled background and disturbing mental health, such an incident was always on the cards. He even cleared the background check procedure in the state and the pro-gun stance of Florida has played a major role in this.

Now the gun control activists have called for repealing the second amendment which actually enables Americans to have arms. It seems that lowering of flags, tearful speeches, condolences, and memorials has become too common in US and teenagers like Nikolas Cruz are more susceptible to such unfortunate incidents, taking innocent lives.
