In an Attempted Terrorist attack, a low tech device was detonated in the New York City subway. 22-year-old Akayed Ullah, an immigrant from Bangladesh has been suspected of setting off the explosion. The blast occurred in the area of the Port Authority Bus Terminal, at 42nd Street and 8th Avenue.

At least three people had minor injuries. The suspect Akayed Ullah sustained burns and lacerations to his hands and abdomen. He was taken by the police to Bellevue Hospital for treatment and then taken into custody.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has told the reporters,”When we hear of an attack in the subways, it’s incredibly unsettling. And let’s also be clear, this was an attempted Terrorist attack. Thank God for the perpetrator did not achieve his ultimate goals.”

At present investigators are looking in to find out what was inside the device. They are also trying to find out whether the detonation exploded prematurely or partially.

According to the authorities, the suspect made statements that he was inspired by overseas terrorist groups, possibly the ISIS. The investigation is still going on in this case.
