Hafiz Saeed Wants His Name To Be Removed From UN List Of ‘Designated Terrorists’

Now Hafiz Saeed has taken a next level joke with his petition to UN. The petition seeks the removal of his name from the list of designated terrorists of United Nations. No doubt, a successful appeal against the ‘designated terrorist’ will indeed be worrying for India. The UN sanction against the notorious Lashkar-e-Taiba chief didn’t help LeT to access funds for terrorist activities. From a general overview, this isn’t a separate incident with Hafiz Saeed rather a worrying trend in Pakistan which has indeed made India vulnerable in the border.

Ever since Nawaz Sharif resigned due to his alleged role as shown in Panama Papers, as Pakistan is leading to General Elections scheduled next year, the political domain of Pakistan is witnessing yet another militant trend. The recent episode with regard to the Sunni extremist group Tehreek Labaik Ya Rasool Allah (TYL) led by another fanatic Khadim Hussain Rizvi, has yet again exposed the dirty nexus.

The way Pakistan law minister Zahid Hamid had to be sacked, the situation is very vulnerable for Pakistan as a whole. In such a situation the subsequent release of Hafiz Saeed is a dangerous indication. The role of the Pakistan Army is not above suspicion either as many people believe that they are the ones categorically involved with the recent political developments.

In all probability, the Hafiz Saeed situation has become yet another roadblock for bipartite talks between India and Pakistan. Side by side, as the civilian government has lost its sting, terrorist mastermind like Hafiz Saeed are expected to become more powerful with their vendetta of creating mayhem in India. Thus it remains to be seen whether UN reviews Hafiz Saeed’s petition or not in near future.
