The Income Tax department has raided the Poes Garden House of the former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Late Jaya Lalitha. The IT officials are said to have seized a laptop, a desktop and few pen drive from the two rooms used by Jaya Lalitha’s close aide VK Sasi Kala.
The search operation was conducted late night on Friday. The search also included a room used by Jaya Lalitha’s Personal Assistant Poongundran. The search was conducted in the presence of Vivek Jayaraman, CEO of Jaya Tv and nephew of VK Sasikala. An IT official said on condition of anonymity that they have received information that some critical information was being hidden by taking away from electronic devices in the rooms of Poes Garden. He said that they were searching only a few rooms and not the whole building.
Several workers of AIADMK arrived at the residence of their late leader, as the news of the It searches spread among them. More than ten supporters of TTV Dinakaran have been arrested. Few of them threatened the Police with self-immolation and others squatted on the road in protest. They raised slogans against the BJP led Central Government.
Sasikala’s nephew TTV Dhinakaran tweeted that the IT raids and searches are a betrayal to the spirit of their leader Jaya Lalitha. He questioned how long Panneer Selvam and Palani Swamy would protect their government and posts by targetting AIADMK.
