The initiative of ‘Art of Living’ founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar to hold talks with the stakeholders of Babri Masjid-Ram Temple was appreciated by Congress on Saturday. Senior Congress Tom Vadakkan said that it is appreciable if such efforts have been by Sri Sri to mediate between the two parties involved in the historic and sensitive issue. He said that the matter is sub judice and the court has said that it can be settled outside the court. If Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is making efforts to solve the problem, it is a welcome decision, he added. He further stated that the point must be discussed properly with the stakeholders and no force should be brought on anybody. If done peacefully, it is good for the country, he added.

Another Congress leader KTS Tulasi said that it is very good and anyone is most welcome to break the ice between the concerned parties. She said that mediation is far more effective than adjudication. According to a report, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has held a meeting with the representatives of the two groups to mediate the decade-long Ayodhya dispute. Ravi Shankar met the representatives of the Nirmohi Akhara and All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) to discuss the concerns involved in the dispute. However, the Babri Action committee has denied the report of meeting with Sri Sri Ravi Shankar to resolve the Ayodhya issue.
