Psuedo televangelist Zakir Naik who has been time and again criticised for promoting Muslim fundamentalism in the lines of ISIS has been charge-sheeted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Not only Zakir Naik but also his NGO Islamic Research Foundation (ISR), as well as private firm Harmony Media Pvt Ltd, have been co-accused by NIA. Zakir Naik has deliberately insulted beliefs of Hindus, Christians and some Muslim sects – all those who do not subscribe to Wahabism.

Both IRF & Harmony Media are responsible for circulating such venomous messages in the form of CDs, DVDs and TV programmes. In a statement, NIA said, “In these lectures/QA sessions, Naik states that only Islam is the true religion. He also says that among the religious books of all religions, only Quran is in original form, all other religious texts have been corrupted. He publicly claims that all the other messengers, including Moses, Jesus as well as Sri Krishna, preached Islam. He criticises religious practices observed by other religions as well as non-Wahabi Islamic sects such as Shias, Sufis and Barelvis, and terms them un-Islamic, ”

There is no denying the fact that the NIA decision regarding Zakir Naik is indeed important. Indian Muslims are vulnerable to ISIS recruitment. Thus it is important to stop all sorts of practices by people like Zakir Naik. As Zakir Naik is in abroad to avoid Indian Judiciary, it remains how do Indian government proceed with such a sensitive issue and nab the culprit.
