Pakistan Court Announces Arrest Warrant Against Ex PM Nawaz Sharif

Former Pakistani PM Nawaz Sharif is not having a good time. This year, he has already been compelled to resign after the Panama Paper episode in which investigation is still on. This time around, a Pakistani judge has issued an arrest warrant against him. Incidentally, in this case, Nawaz Sharif failed to appear in court and defend against corruption charges. Judge Mohammad Bashir has rejected a request from Sharif’s lawyer and he was not granted exemption from court appearances.

Through his lawyer, Nawaz Sharif appealed for staying in London to be with his ailing wife who is receiving medical treatment at present. The next hearing is scheduled on November 3. Unless otherwise, the Judge grants bail in the next hearing, Nawaz Sharif will be facing arrest once he comes back to Pakistan.

As of now, Nawaz Sharif is facing three corruption cases and he has skipped court hearings. No doubt, the political career of Nawaz Sharif indeed faces a serious question at present. The Pakistan political fraternity is indeed vulnerable and when Nawaz Sharif resigned in July, the crisis has manifolded. It remains to be seen whether Nawaz Sharif is granted bail in the next hearing or not.
