CBI Asks For Centre’s Permission To Reopen Bofors Case

In an interesting turn of events, CBI has asked the central government for reconsidering its 2005 decision. Incidentally, on May 31, 2005, Delhi High Court quashed all charged against Europe based Hinduja Brothers in the Bofors case. CBI at present wants to file a case against the Delhi High Court order.

No doubt, CBI will definitely need to explain in the court regarding their delay to oppose such. It has been 12 years since that order which gave a clean chit to the Hinduja brothers. There is no denying the fact that private detective Michael Hershman has opened the can of worms in the Bofors case. He has recently alleged that the Rajiv Gandhi led government had sabotaged his investigation. In 2005, the ruling UPA regime led by Sonia Gandhi was well aware of the consequences of the Bofors case.

To safeguard her ‘own’ family, Sonia Gandhi didn’t allow puppet PM Manmohan Singh to give a nod to CBI challenging the clean chit given to Hinduja brothers. Already there have been discussions all around regarding the involvement of Hinduja Brothers Srichand, Gopichand and Prakashchand in the Bofors case which can end up finding whereabouts of Rajiv Gandhi’s involvement in the Bofors deal. Nevertheless, the people of India have every right to know the truth and Narendra Modi’s government should allow CBI to challenge the 2005 Delhi High Court verdict.
