MIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi is able to retain the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat effortlessly in consecutive polls because of the faith people have on him in this Muslim-dominant Constituency. Congress Party has come up with a plan to make the contest tough in 2019 Lok Sabha Polls.

Telangana Congress Leaders openly offered party’s Hyderabad Lok Sabha Constituency ticket to former Indian skipper Mohammad Azharuddin. They believe a charismatic leader like Azhar can alone offer a tough competition to MIM Supremo. ‘Azhar is a Youth Icon. People across the nation admire him. We appealed him to consider contesting from Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency in the next elections. We would welcome even if he chooses to contest from an Assembly seat,’ T-PCC Chief Uttam Kumar Reddy.

In 2009 Polls, Azharuddin won from Moradabad Lok Sabha Constituency on Congress ticket. He, however, suffered a crushing defeat in 2014 Elections contesting against BJP’s Sukhbir Singh Jaunapuria from Tonk-Madhopur Constituency in Rajasthan and the margin of votes was 1.35 lakh. Azhar was one of the Congress Leaders who prevented AP MPs from disrupting the passage of Telangana Bill in 2014.

Telangana Congress wishes to influence the Muslim Voters in the state with the help of Azharuddin. Whether if Azhar is ready to accept the tough challenge of facing Owaisi in polls is a million dollar question.
