Choose a Brandable Domain Name for List Building & Web Hosting Setup – (Day 2/30) #Bizathon

The #1 rule of choosing a brandable Domain name for your list building campaign is:

Don’t overthink it!

In today’s live stream (Day 2/30) – I literally had to search for like 2 minutes to come up with a Brandable Domain name that I can use for my 30-day Email Business Bizathon.

So what are the key Domain Traits?

The domain name you choose should be:

  • Memorable
  • Brandable
  • 1-3 words
  • Pronouncable

Some examples: ProfitInstruments.com and FlyingStartOnline.com

Think of it like this:

If your domain name is something you can tell a stranger on an elevator verbally and they are able to understand it – you’re good!

The quickest way to find these domain names is to think of some important key words in your niche.

For email marketing, those key words are:

  • List
  • Growth
  • Building
  • Email
  • Autoresponder
  • Newsletter
  • Inbox
  • Opt-in
  • Send
  • Compose
  • Reply

There are probably a dozen others. The ones mentioned above are just off the top of my head.

Combining these words and/or creating interesting wordplays help you finalize your domain name.

Once you’ve registered your domain name, then it’s time to set it up on web hosting.

While there are options nowadays to just use tools like Inbox Blueprint, ClickFunnels, Leadpages – among others; I do recommend setting up the primary domain name on a shared hosting server FIRST.

There are a few advantages of doing that:

  1. You have more control over your subdomains.
  2. You can easily add/edit/delete files using a file manager.
  3. You can easily set up an email address (which will come handy later)

I recommend starting up with Siteground for your shared hosting because their platform is fine-tuned for WordPress installations – which we will be doing in a bit.

If you already have a hosting account, you can easily add that new domain by using the ‘Addon Domains’ feature inside cPanel.

The important thing to remember is to change the DNS Nameservers on your domain registrar.

Once the addon domain and nameserver processes are complete, the next thing to do is install WordPress.

If you’re using Siteground like I am, then it’s super simple to install WordPress.

They literally have a ‘WordPress Installer’ insider cPanel.

A few clicks later, your WP is installed and live on your domain name.

It might take a few minutes for DNS propagation; so keep that into account.

Once you’ve installed WordPress, it’s super-important to create your

  • Privacy Policy page
  • Terms of Use page

These are required pages that will be linked out from your opt-in pages. Instills confidence in your users and also in your advertisers.

For setting these up, I simply went over to the ‘Plugins’ page and search for ‘privacy’ and installed the Auto Terms of Service and Privacy Policy plugin.

Using this plugin – simply fill in some details and your pages will be automatically generated.

Let me know in the comments below about your progress with domain name and setting up on hosting. Also – if you have any inputs/suggestions, comment below and I’ll respond.
