In Wenger, we trust

The new season is yet to kick off but already the storm of speculation and prediction has, with every paper doing their best to make every player sound like he’s moving on to the next Club. Most Football pundits are also at it again, doing what they do best, predicting what will be with prophetic authority. Arsenal, as a big club is always under the flood light and many critics are declaring disaster not unlike that of Sodom and Gomorah. Normally that would be scaring many gooners shitless were it not for the fact that last season fire did not come down from heaven as per the prophecies. The critics were as successful in commanding fire from heaven as Baal prophets did in the time of Elijah. However since they cannot be held accountable for their failed predictions, they are back at it again. I read an article by Allan Sekamatte who’s a very knowledgeable man in football, at least in Uganda, predicting a fourth finish by Spurs ahead of the gunners simply because Ramos has an ace up his sleeve and Wenger doesn’t, unless to quote him ”if we are all blind.” Mr. Sekamatte might not be aware that the same was predicted last season by knowledgeable men in football no less than editors at Teamtalk.com, most of whom thought Spurs would play Champs League football while Arsenal would battle teams from Eastern Europe for the UEFA cup. But lo, a few matches into the season, Spurs were flirting with relegation. So Mr. Sekamatte, we are not blind, you are blind, because clearly Wenger has assembled a youth team capable of sending shockwaves across England and throughout Europe. If there’s anybody to trust while in uncertainty, it is the Frenchman at the helm of Arsenal football club. Wenger has singlehandedly kept a very competitive side not only in England but in Europe on a shoe-string budget, maintaining a total-football approach that is the creed of football purists and fanatics worldwide, while getting rid of old and greedy footballers and at the same time making sure that the club is not taken over by football sugardaddies like most premiership clubs. All this has been achived without plunging the club into debts. Now, to me that is a genius at work. That is pure Einsteinism. To do all this and we were four points away from the premier league trophy shows how the man is in his own league. Now from last season we have lost Hleb whose contribution was mainly dribbling and delaying that shot at goal till the ref had blown the whistle and who averaged a goal in 5 seasons and Flamini. Flamini will be missed but he’s not to quote Beyonce “irreplaceable.” Actually, to continue with the song, his replacement will be “here in a minute.” Nasri will be better than Hleb from what i’ve seen from him while the fleet-footed Walcott has stepped up his game as well as Bendtner while Jack Wilshere is my new Golden boy. The boy is a wonder. So whatever happens, i trust in Wenger.
