Edwardian houses are known for ornate decorative details, including floor tiles, stained glass, and timber, as well as large rooms with high ceilings. Unlike the smaller, darker Victorian homes, Edwardian houses were more squat, wider and roomy, with bigger hallways and more windows.

Pastel colors soared in popularity in the Edwardian period, a stark departure from the rather glum dark colors favored in the Victorian era. Floral designs with natural colors such as primrose, lilac and green and dusky blues, yellows and greys, all became popular.
