My Healthy Go To's!

I don't make resolutions but I instead try to re-affirm a vow to myself to try and treat myself as kindly as possible on a daily basis. Even though that may seem super vague (read: really easy to forget about) I decided to write down concrete ways I try to be good to myself on a daily basis.

YOGA:
I have decided that I need to stop waiting for a written invitation to go to yoga. I am not sure why I get in my own way when it comes to going to yoga because I always feel so great during and afterwards. I have also noticed that my body gets super rickety when I skip yoga (meaning: I throw my back out all the time) hopefully this will become incentive enough!

LEMON WATER:
I read the book, "You Are What You Eat" (by Gillian McKeith) years ago and learned about the health benefits of having a warm water with lemon in it first thing in the morning. Long story short, the lemon water is supposed to clean out the "gunk" from your organs that had settled overnight.  Health benefits aside it feels good to start my day with something warm and simple before I throw a lot of different foods in to my intestines that day.

SKIN BRUSHING:
I just started doing this a couple months ago-I'm not sure why it took me forever to jump on this bandwagon but my gosh I love it! I originally heard about skin brushing in "You Are What You Eat" years ago and then I heard Bethenny talking about it on her show. I tried it once and I was hooked! The key is to brush your skin before your shower and do it while you are dry! Jon says the brush is too course for his skin but I love the scratchiness of the bristles on my skin.  The brush exfoliates and also strengthens the overall texture of my skin. Seriously, I love it! Try it!

OXYLENT:
(Before you wonder: no, this isn't a paid review)
Daily vitamins, believe it or not, are a hot button issue. Some people swear by them while others don't think they do anything. I for one, am a big fan of vitamins and the placebo affect. Therefore, I take vitamins because if they do something that's a plus-even if they don't I still feel like they do.
I take Oxylent because it tastes great, its drinkable and every time I feel a little sick (or ahem...hungover) it gets me right as rain.
