Legion trailer is filled with insanity

FX is ready to take the wraps off of Legion, its upcoming series based in the X-Men universe.

The Legion series has been in development for some time, but it looks like it is finally falling together as FX released the first trailer for the series during Comic Con this year. If you don’t know anything about the character of David Heller – played here by Dan Stevens from Downton Abbey – this trailer will leave you wondering if what he is seeing is from mental illness or real. If the show is following the comic, then it’s all real as he’s a mutant, and as the ‘m’ word is said in the trailer, my suspicion is that is indeed the way they are going with this.

The big question now is if the show will touch on Heller’s family tree. In the comics he is the son of Prof. Xavier, but it isn’t clear yet if that will be the story in the series, and it isn’t even clear if this follows the continuity of the movies.

Legion will debut in 2017 on FX. Here is the official synopsis:

Legion follows David Haller, a troubled young man who may be more than human. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and visions might be real. Legion debuts in early 2017 and is produced by FX Productions and Marvel Television.
