Yet another unusual bit of casting news has surfaced for all of the DC shows on The CW.
In May it was announced that Wentworth Miller had signed on as a “universe regular” across all of the Greg Berlanti shows on The CW meaning Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and the recently added Supergirl. This means that Miller can appear on any of the shows from week to week, but he is guaranteed work.

This was a highly unusual move, but now John Barrowman has joined this new club according to TV Line and his Malcolm Merlyn will be moving between the different series at will. “What it really emulates to us is the comic books themselves, where there really are a cast of characters,” said Berlanti back when the Miller deal was struck. While Capt. Cold has primarily been a Flash villain over the years, he does show up in other comics, so why not on TV? This is a bold move for Berlanti and one I definitely tip my hat to. Do it with everyone in my opinion, make a truly giant universe. While you can’t do it with the title characters, you can certainly do it with the supporting ones, and the villains for sure.
Looks like it should be an interesting season over in the Berlantiverse.
