Let’s face it, you’re never getting rid of Chuck Lorre.
Lorre has been a hit machine for CBS for years now with Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory. With the latter leaving the air this year, CBS has locked him down for at least two more seasons by renewing Mom for seasons 7 & 8. He does still also have Young Sheldon on the air as well, but Mom was a bigger get due to the cast.
Word is that Allison Janney and Anna Faris contracts were up this year, and the new deals see them pretty much double their salaries to just under $350,000 each per episode. They also reportedly got larger shares of the back end money as well.
Mom is not a show for everyone and can go quite dark at times as every main character is dealing with some form of addiction. It is still a highly engaging series and one I watch weekly.
My bet is also there is a first look somewhere in this deal for another Lorre series, but we’ll have to wait and see.
