Star Wars Episode VIII begins filming

Get ready folks, Star Wars Episode Viii has officially begun filming.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed that the next film in the third Star Wars trilogy has officially begun filming.

There is no better way to propel this franchise into the future than producing quality products. Filming of Star Wars: Episode Viii, the next chapter of the legendary saga, has just commenced and it will be in theaters December 2017. And production of Episode IX, a 2019 release, has also begun.

There’s no stopping this train at this point, but there is one oddity still. While talking about the spin-off films, Iger shared one odd factoid.

Filming of Rogue One is virtually completed and we absolutely love what we’ve seen so far, This is the first of a set of planned stand-alone stories and we’re already in preproduction on our next one, for release in May of 2018.

He’s still sticking with that May 2018 idea huh? Star Wars: The Force Awakens just slayed December. Rogue One is out in December. Episode VIII has moved to December. Why release anywhere other than that at this point? It makes no sense. Something tells me that will move in the not too distant future.

For now, just know that Rey may still be standing up on a rock holding out a lightsaber.
