The age of the successful low-Budget horror films doesn’t seem to be going away any time soon when one wins two weekends in a row.
Number one this week went to Sony’s Don’t Breathe. The film cost just $9.9M to make, and took in a very healthy $15.7M, marking only a 40.6 percent drop. It now stands at $51.12M.
Suicide Squad landed in second place yet again with $10M for a new domestic total of $297.42M. Globally it stands at $672.92M off of its $175M.
Pete’s Dragon roared back to life a bit with $6.47M to land in third place for a domestic total of $64.22M off of its $65M budget. Globally it sits at $92.42M
Fourth place went to Kubo and the Two Strings with $6.47M for a new domestic total of $34.32M off of a $60M budget.
Sausage Party took in another $5.3M and now sits at $88.44M off of its $19M budget.
Outside of the top five, Mogan landed in 17th place with just $1.8M off of its $8M budget, making it one of the worst openings of the year.
This week’s big releases are Sully, When the Bough Breaks and The Wild Life.
