Boosting Your Mental Health During a Challenging Time

Even the cops don’t know up from down these days.

It’s fair to say that at the moment, the world is a little upside down. You might still be living in lockdown or practicing Social distancing. You might be working from home or home educating. You may be completely isolating if you are in a high-risk group. Then, away from the worry of coronavirus, there’s protests and rioting happening all over, and many of us are stressed out and anxious. 

Most of 2020 has been lived in some disruption, and it only seems to be getting worse. You might worry that normality will never return. You might be missing your friends and family, concerned about them, as well as yourself, and feeling tense on behalf of the whole world. It’s a truly challenging time, which is having a detrimental effect on many people’s Mental Health

What can you do about it? With so much going on around you, and so much bad news all of the time, what can you do to boost and protect your mental health?

Find Ways to Relax

It can be hard to relax when you are so worried about everything going on in the world. But, sometimes, you just have to put yourself and your needs first and find ways to unwind. You might want to buy weed online if you’ve found it helps depression. A long walk might help you to feel better, or you might find that a good online shopping session is the biggest help. 

Limit Your News Intake

The news is essential. It’s important to know what is going on. But, too much of it is a bad thing. Try to limit your intake to a source that you trust, and even then avoid live feeds or constantly checking. 

Know When You Need to Switch Off

Turn your phone off for a few hours before bed for the best chance of a good night’s sleep, and learn to recognize when you need a bigger break. If Social Media has started to make you angry, or cause you stress, take a break. 

Have a Good Social Media Clear Out

Social media is one of the biggest stresses of modern lives. If you are constantly annoyed by what you read, or angry with specific accounts, it might be time for a big clear out. 

But Understand Its Nature

At the same time, though, you need to understand the nature of these platforms. You follow people who share your values and ideals. This can make it appear as though the world is on your side. It’s nicer, but it’s not a balanced view. It doesn’t reflect the real world. 

Get Some Exercise

Exercise is a great way to reduce stress and unwind. It can boost your mood, help you sleep, and improve your confidence. Try to get out for a walk when you can, or have a go at home workouts. 

Keep In Touch

You might not be able to see your friends and family face to face, but it is still important that you keep in touch with them and that you maintain contact with the outside world. 

One of the best things that you can do is remind yourself that it won’t be forever. Focus on the positives, and try to look to the future.
