Unusual But Delicious Fruits

Tags: fruit

Living in Costa Rica for six years exposed us to some delicious new fruits. One of my favorites was the Mamon Chino pictured above, aka Rambutan.  They are such an ugly Fruit, but so easy to peel and eat.

If you are looking for a delicious fruit that you have never tried before, here are some of the top unusual but delicious fruits. These fruits may be difficult to find. With a little bit of research, you should be able to find them in a local store or online. If you are having dinner or brunch, you should consider getting some of these delicious fruits for you and your guests to try. They will never be able to forget them.

Rambutan Fruit

This fruit is often referred to as a hairy fruit because of its hairy appearance. This pinkish fruit has long spiky hairs all along the peel. The inside of this fruit is a soft white texture. This fruit is different from most fruits because even when it is perfectly ripe you can taste both sweet and sour flavors. It is full of antioxidants and is one of the healthiest fruits you can eat.

Pineberry

Pineberry is a great and delicious fruit but it is not a typical fruit that we enjoy often. Pineberry is an unusual fruit because of its different color and taste. A pineberry is a white strawberry cultivar that has red seeds and a pineapple flavor. Pineberries can be difficult to find but you can enjoy pineberry syrup in a variety of different recipes. If you are looking to add a little bit of extra flavor to your next food or drink, you can add a couple of splashes of this syrup to make an incredible and exotic dish.

Cherimoya Fruit

This hard to pronounce and weird-looking fruit may not look appealing to most people, but once you give it a try you will surely go back for seconds. This fruit is green and looks similar to scales but once you cut it in half you will notice a soft white center with large seeds. After eating the inside of this fruit you will definitely buy it again. This fruit and many others are delicious and also very good for your health because they have a lot of added nutritional value.

Kiwano Fruit

The color of this delicious fruit is a beautiful yellowish-orange and makes it look more like a flower than a fruit that you can actually eat. The skin of this fruit has small spikes and can typically be referred to as a horned melon fruit. The inside of the fruit is just as beautiful as the outside. The inside is a green and soft center. This fruit is the perfect combination of a cucumber and melon taste that is sure to delight any taste buds.

Durian Fruit

The durian fruit is one of the most unappealing looking fruits. Because of its spikey texture and smelly scent, it is often not tried by most people. It is one of the healthiest and nutritious fruits that you can try, but you first need to get over the appearance and the scent. The inside of the fruit is similar to a custard and can usually be found in Asian stores.

Kumquat

A kumquat is a small citrus fruit that resembles a tiny orange. They have a similar appearance to oranges and also a similar nutritional value. If you love oranges, you will love this fruit too. Rather than having to peel this fruit, you can eat the entire fruit in one single bite. The peel and center of this fruit are all edible and delicious. This fruit is high in vitamin C, calcium, potassium and other vitamins and minerals.

Most of us have routines that we stick to every day. We eat the same foods, drink the same drinks, and do the same things. While many of us are up for an adventure and change, it may be difficult to switch up our patterns and ways of doing things. There are some fruits that we all love and eat every day because they are readily available and easy to find at the grocery store. There are many other fruits that are absolutely delicious but are not enjoyed as much as others simply because they are not as easy to find or even known about. Here are some of the top unusual but delicious fruits that we all need to try.
