I had my knee replaced a few years ago. Avoid it if you can!

All of those years of wear and tear take their toll on your joint and they’ll start to ache a lot when you move around. It can be a big problem because you want to get out and stay active but severe joint pain can stop you from doing a lot of the things that you love, so you need to find a way to deal with it. Medication

The easiest way to deal with most of the problems that your body throws at you is to just take some medication for it. If you’ve got fairly moderate joint pain from general wear and tear, it’s usually just caused by inflammation as the joints rub together. The good news is, there’s a lot of over the counter medication that you can use to get rid of the pain. If you’ve got a lot of swelling, you can take aspirin and ibuprofen, which have great anti inflammatory properties and should solve the problem.

If you’ve got a mild pain but there isn’t that much swelling around the joints, Tylenol is the best thing to take. Just be aware that it can cause liver damage in high doses so it’s best not to mix it with alcohol.

Most of the time, those over the counter medications should sort the problem but if it’s getting a lot worse, you should see a doctor. They’ll be able to prescribe you some opioid medications which will deal with the pain effectively, but they do have a lot of side effects, especially drowsiness, which isn’t always ideal.

CBD Oil

CBD is a bit of a controversial treatment because it’s taken from the hemp plant but a lot of people are using it to deal with pain because they prefer a more natural alternative to the strong opioids that they’re getting from their doctor. At the minute, you can’t get hemp-derived CBD products through insurance so you will have to pay for them. However, you may be eligible for a discount and they’re not that expensive, so it’s worth looking into.

Surgery

Taking something for the pain might be enough and you can just get on with your life, but sometimes, the problem is more serious. If you have a more serious problem like arthritis or fluid on the knee, pain medication might not be enough to solve your problem. In that case, you should speak to your doctor about surgery options.

Joint pain is just something that you’re going to have to deal with as you get older, but if you take action early, you can sort it out pretty easily.
