Package:

• Small groups of maximum 22 travelers guaranteed by Gate 1 Travel – we had nine in our tour. We split into two vehicles: five plus guide in one, four plus guide in another.
• Round trip flight from Tampa to Nairobi arranged through Gate 1 Travel. Airline taxes & fuel surcharges included.
• 8 nights accommodations
  • 2 nights Nairobi – definitely first class. A five star stay at the Radisson Blu at the beginning of the tour and at the Crowne Plaza at the end for a few hours until our plane departed.
  • 2 nights Samburu National Reserve – a taste of “glamping.”
  • 1 night Aberdare National Park at The Ark – nowhere near first class.
  • 1 night Lake Naivasha – more glamping.
  • 2 nights Masai Mara National Reserve – glamping.

Is This Trip Right for You?

This is an active trip.

• Our guide explained after a grueling day on a horrible road: “This is not a vacation, this is a tour.”  We laughed at the time and still do chuckle.
• The group covers a lot of ground each day, and we spent most of our time driving over roads that are often rough and bumpy in safari vehicles that are not air conditioned. There are no “facilities” during game drives.
• Early morning game drives starting with breakfast at 6:30 a.m. Electricity for camps is provided by generator and may not be available 24 hours a day.
•  Check with your health-care provider before signing up for this tour. Our tour require walking or there were stairs to enter tents. Safari vehicles have high ground clearance and require agility to embark and disembark.
