As the parent of transracially adopted adults, I am thrilled at (and just a a little bit jealous of) the wealth of Adoptee expertise available to newer parents today. Oh, if this information and generously-shared information had been available to me as a younger parent! How much I could have learned that I am learning now –not too late to help my kids, but certainly too late to influence my day-to-day parenting.
I want to shout out three books in particular that form, in my opinion, an essential trilogy of adoptee expertise. These voices are powerful, my friends, they are what will, at long long last, give the world a realistic view of adoption. What a treasure to be able to turn now to the adoptee community for knowledge and guidance!
Get these books, read them and keep them handy in your library. Let them remind you, as they do me, that adoption is about adoptees above all.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to these wonderful books and helped to make them a reality!
