I close my eyes and lean back to think about the Legacy I would like to leave behind, and how I would want people to remember me. It is hard because I can’t think of a single sphere I feel powerful in. How I can influence a few others positively, let alone a community or the world, escapes me.

Two decades ago, however, I thought that would be my music - the songs I’ve written and set to tune, that all modesty aside I still feel extremely proud of. The songs that rang only in my college corridors and in small rooms filled with musician friends. The songs that I believed would someday permeate through the collective emotions and lives of my immediate and perhaps future generations.

Could I have done more to set these songs free, the only things I think could be my legacy? What would the word be, if I took these to the grave with me?
