I took my collie Caillou to the groomer back in May to get his Summer Cut. I had no idea when I took him in exactly what a summer cut meant. When I picked him up, it looked as if he'd gotten drafted and had gotten a basic training Buzz Cut. He was pitiful.

The other dogs didn't recognize him. Without his hair, he looks a lot smaller. I think the other dogs made jokes at his expense.

The upside of the episode is that Caillou did a lot better through the oppressive heat this summer. But still, I will never get him cut that short again.

His coat is finally coming back and he looks more like himself, but he still has a ways to go.

When I was outside on the bench, I snapped a picture of him to show his progress.

He should be back to his old self by Christmas.
