Empathetic Leadership

In recent days our world has been influence by numerous occurrences of pain, suffering and turmoil for reasons which will be debated hopefully in an effort to discover solutions to our personal and world demise. I suggest a positive approach…

We are often bombarded with negative images and words used to describe individuals and groups who perhaps we do not know or understand. It is time that this type of negative language and behavior stops, as it only serves to increase more anger and hatred among people. It is time for a more understanding and compassionate approach to finding answers and solutions to world problems…an approach where sincere empathetic listening takes place thus leading to greater understanding, compassion and loving-kindness towards all people.

"Hatred ever kills, love never dies; such is the vast difference between the
two. What is obtained by love is retained for all time. What is obtained by
hatred proves a burden in reality for it increases hatred."  M. Ghandi

If we truly possess the desire for greater calm and peace in our world, then it is important that we stop being models of anger, hatred and fear. We must learn the wisdom expressed by numerous statesmen who have serve our countries in the past and present…individuals who have stated that there is greater positive outcomes that emerge by being a model and expression FOR calm and peace, than there is by being a model and expression AGAINST hatred and war. This is not a naïve illusion…it is a noble truth…

"It is the law of love that rules mankind. Had violence, i.e. hate ruled us,
we should have become extinct long ago. And yet, the tragedy of it is that
the so-called civilized men and nations conduct themselves as if the basis
of society was violence." M. Ghandi

We have been taught this truth for centuries by spiritual and religious leaders, by educators and philosophers. Recent research in cellular biology, neurology, quantum physics and other forms of science are also suggesting that the human brain has difficulty processing negative energy in a positive manner.

So what is our true purpose as leaders and authority figures? Is it to continue the flow of the forces of hatred, anger, and fear, by being AGAINST these forces, or is it our purpose to be a model FOR calm, peace, and love through our words, expressions, and behavior.

It is time for us to become models of true empathetic listening, understanding, and loving-kindness and compassion.

I am realizing more and more everyday about a truth I knew as a child…the truth that…

The many powerful forces of hatred, anger and fear will one day be silenced
by the one Energy more powerful than all negative forces combined…

Additional information and explanations:

Neurolinguistic Programming

“NLP is used to develop strong, predictable influence, to manage stress, pain or trauma, and to accelerate learning and enhance performance”.

“As a science, NLP has been recognized as one of the singularly most powerful tools that supports rapid and profound change in human behavior”. Louise LeBrun

“I have used NLP techniques with individuals suffering from anxiety related disorders, and have received greater results in an hour session than some individuals were able to receive in 14 years of therapy with psychiatrists and psychologists.” Dr. Don Blackerby

“NLP may be the most powerful vehicle for change in existence...” Modern Psychology

***Quantum TLC(TM) Counseling & Psychological Therapy

“Quantum TLC creates a powerful and sustainable context/process for living that allows us to grow, expand and engage our own evolution our own way and in our own time - as a way of life”!

http://www.quantumtlc.com/welcome.htm

***WEL-Systems Counseling & Psychological Therapy

The WEL-Systems® approach offers a proven pathway to access a context for change that will do just that: profoundly alter the way you see your 'self', your world and the way you move through that world”.

http://wel-systems.com/welsys.htm

***Ecopsychology

Ecopsychology is an emerging field that is developing in recognition that human health, identity, and sanity are intimately linked to the health of the earth and must include sustainable and mutually enhancing relationships between humans and the nonhuman world. Ecopsychology places human psychology in an ecological context, and is aimed at healing the divisions between mind and nature, humans and earth. The central concern of ecopsychology is the physical, psychological, and spiritual health of both the human and nonhuman world and an understanding of the psychological processes that either bond us to the natural world or alienate us from it”.

***Transcendental Meditation Practitioner

"Transcendental Meditation gives me an island of calm in the midst of so much
turbulence."-Paul

"There is something about TM. It is the only time I have that stillness. It gives me this peaceful feeling-I just love it so much. You achieve all of the benefits from just sitting still and going within."-Ellen

*** Practitioner of Guided Imagery and Relaxation Techniques
Meditative techniques used to help induce Dr. Herbert Benson’s Relaxation Response.  According to Benson, “Any condition that is caused or exacerbated by stress can be helped by a well-designed mind-body approach. Further-more, because all health conditions have some stress component, it is no overstatement to say that virtually every single health problem and disease can be improved with a mind-body approach.”
Plato once said: “The greatest mistake physicians make is that they attempt to cure the body without attempting to cure the mind; yet the mind and the body are one and should not be treated separately!”
I utilize Relaxation Response, a variety of meditations e.g. Transcendental Meditation, Guided Imagery & Relaxation, Breathing Meditation, and Single-Point Meditation. I also make use of Cognitive Restructuring, a Healthy Nutrition and Exercise Plan, Mindfulness as taught by Thich Nhat Hanh, and Dr. Michael Cohen’s Ecopsychology activities.
