SouhtSide and EastEnd of Oahu

Aloha Everyone,
Just another kiila day in Hawaii-Nei,the sun is out and the sky is nice and bright. It's a good day for the beach and any other ocean activities people can think of that will make them happy. Here in sunny lovely Oahu. We are changing seasons from summer to fall, slowly moving forward to winter, but the summer south swells are pretty much over and the winter north swell is starting to roll in.That's another great thing about Hawaii that separates this place from other places.Beaches here vary from place to place. If you were to go to the south-side Kewalo,Ala Moana, and Waikiki side, the surf can be spitting with awesome bowls or mellow... with easy flowing waves that can be ridden most of the way to shore. Most places are fairly shallow so beginners have a good chance to learn, without getting sucked out by heavy current or undertow. Crowds are a problem, but you got to start somewhere. As you go towards Diamond look-out, you'll see sets of waves coming, magically springing up from the vantage point of the look-out.You can see guys surfing and when the wind is blowing a huge pile of windsurfers doing their thing, with very long rides towards the shore. It has lots of space to manuver and waves for everyone.Crowds are really not a problem here, except you got to handle the long paddle out to the line-up.If you like just snorkel, swim, or cruise in the water, you have to head further to the east-side and go Hanauma Bay.If you can handle the crowd the bay is really pretty awesome and great for your family. It's more of a tourist place, most locals don't go there because of all the tourists crowds.Plus parking is problem for locals, they like park 10ft. from the beach when-ever possible.Heading farther east towards the Blow-hole you can see the shore-break to the left of the look-out,this place blows out alot of people shoulders and backs because of the most unreal body surf shorebreak on the planet called Sandy Beach.Beautiful white sand shoreline with  full on Pacific ocean solid deep powerful waves.Be careful and be very afraid, if you are a beginner, because you might have to call for help if you get caught in this break.I've had to bring people back to shore on my back just to get them back to the safety of the sand ,so they can take a breath. Not a safe place to go when the surf is pumping during the summer south swells that make this place a boggie board and body surfers dream come true. Also some tid-bit info about Johnnie Depp's new movie about the Pirates of the Caribbean it was filmed on the beach cove just to right side of the Halona Blow-Hole.I will continue this surf dribble in my next blog tommorrow,no worry I'll be back to tell you about the West and the North side of Oahu tommorrow.ALOHA!
