Oh! MAGNIFICIENT LIFE

As I sit  watching T.V, I hear a crash, my son comes to me and stands by sheepishly; the milk mug has fallen and broken. I look at him for a moment, edit all unkind words and say, "Doesn't matter, just drop it in the dustbin".
A little while later, both my kids are launching paper boats in the bathroom, there is water all  over the bedroom floor too, again I just give them a look and we all get down to clean  the mess. That day, I deal with fights, loud T.V, strewn toys...............things that are bound to happen when kids are home for four whole days.

But I  surprise myself! No shouts, no threats, no screaming. Just a rational me going about the day. Our home is a much pleasant place. My kids are happy, I am calmer. And its all happening naturally today, doesn't take any great effort from my side.

What's so special about today ....you might ask? Have I become the cool mom I always wanted to be. Hardly so. This is what has happened.

'A young mother in the neighbourhood has lost her life to illness, suddenly without warning.'

         That's what has hit me!
A realization that life is indeed fickle........... a soap bubble waiting to burst....an ice candy melting in the hot sun.
That it could easily be my turn next; to fall back in the herd, when the tiger comes hunting.
And as usual its a tragedy that makes me realize this.! Its ironic how we discover our life only when somebody else looses it .
Now I want to make every moment worthwhile, to savour each second. To appreciate that a day, when nothing actually happens is the most special.
I wish I could always remember this, but I know I'll forget...soon. Again I'll treat life as a burden, crib about every little thing that goes wrong........I know for sure, because all this has happened before.
Why do I need a jolt every time to remind me of my greatest gift
