Monday Mottoes – #235

Tags: monday ugly

Pronouncements of the negative sort seem so simple when it comes to other people: He’s lazy. She’s nuts. You’ll never amount to anything. They’re moochers.

Very easy. I can spot immediately what is the problem… with you!

Myself, not so much….

There must be a reason why the Bible refers to removing the big log in our own eye before we attempt to take out the speck in another person’s eye.

The focus grows so crystal-clear… as long as it’s not inward. Unless, of course, you’re telling them how wonderful they are, lol.

There’s a unique dynamic in some offices, or families, or social groups where one side of the equation is never held accountable and gets away with murder, while the other can be constantly bashed “with cause”. Unbelievable.

Which brings us to today’s quote:

“My psychiatrist told me I was crazy and I said I want a second opinion. He said okay, you’re Ugly too.” ~ Rodney Dangerfield

Oh boy, that was helpful-! Bottom line is, God don’t like ugly. And we shouldn’t, either.

Here’s an easy experiment: if your personal blind spot is so severe as to make you unconscious to your own behaviors, pretend to be someone else. Yes, be your own best friend! (No, I didn’t say “imaginary friend”-!) Tell yourself what it’s like being around someone… just like you… and how you might improve. Because when it comes from yourself, you just might listen-!

Happy Monday, everyone!
