#StandUp250 - Sea Shepherd Conservation Society Repost!

In the Faroe Islands, where the brutal and archaic mass slaughter known as the “grindadrap” or “grind” claims the lives of hundreds of cetaceans each year, 250 pilot whales have been slaughtered to date during the current hunting season. Sea Shepherd volunteers are stationed on the ground and at sea in the Faroes, bringing worldwide attention to this cruel slaughter, despite draconian new Faroese laws that target anyone opposing the grind or even approaching one of these horrific hunts.
Seven Sea Shepherd crewmembers have been arrested and charged, and the Royal Danish Navy has been assisting the local Faroese police in these arrests. Denmark is a member state of the European Union (EU), and the slaughter of cetaceans is illegal under EU law. So why is Denmark helping to uphold the cruel and unnecessary hunting of pilot whales in the Faroe Islands?
On August 14, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society will stand in solidarity with the pilot whales and with Sea Shepherd crew in the Faroe Islands, as we demonstrate outside the Embassy of Denmark in Washington, DC and Danish consulates across the United States. We will be there to demand justice for the 250 pilot whales whose lives were senselessly taken on July 23, and for the brave and compassionate Sea Shepherd volunteers who have been arrested.
JOIN US: Stand with Sea Shepherd as we apply pressure on Denmark and the EU to stop this cruel massacre of whales and dolphins in the Faroe Islands once and for all! Check below to see if there is a demonstration in your area on August 14. STAY TUNED: More cities to be added soon.
