How effective is the Sinovac vaccine?

 


In an article published in the New England Journal of Medicine (nejm.org) on July 7, 2021, which focused on the vaccinated populace in Chile, researchers concluded that:

“We estimated that the Vaccine Effectiveness among partially immunized persons (14 to 28 days after receipt of the first dose) was 15.5% for the Prevention of Covid-19; 37.4% for the prevention of hospitalization; 44.7% for the prevention of admission to the ICU, and 45.7% for the prevention of Covid-19–related death.

“In the fully immunized group, the estimated adjusted Vaccine effectiveness was 65.9% for the prevention of Covid-19; 87.5% for the prevention of hospitalization; 90.3% for the prevention of ICU admission, and 86.3% for the prevention of Covid-19–related death.”
