Transportation Sec. Arthur P. Tugade delivered a very profound keynote which highlighted the transformational change at EDSA, during the virtual groundbreaking ceremony of the EDSA Busway Concourse Project, which will be undertaken by the Department of Transportation (DOTr), in partnership with SM Prime Holdings, Inc. (SMPHI) today, 18 May 2021.
The event ushers the beginning of the civil works for THREE (3) EDSA BUSWAY CONCOURSES to be built at the EDSA Busway stops at SM Mall of Asia, SM Megamall, and SM North EDSA, in spaces which were all donated by the SM Group. This, following the successful signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) in November 2020.
The EDSA Concourse Project is envisioned to provide safer, more convenient access to the stations of the EDSA Busway, and to give a better commuting experience to the Filipinos, with these concourses designed and equipped with ticketing booths, Automatic Fare Collection System (AFCS) turnstiles, and concierges, which will allow all transport transactions to take place at the concourses, prior to the onboarding of passengers.
