YAPACANA NATIONAL PARK

Emerald waves ripple

between the rippling tides

of light and chlorophyll

The flowers invoke the wind

their colors fade

and dilute their fragrances

in pollen lures

Sandstone fuses into tepuy

the tepuy in whipped illusions

through the clouds

that blow in the afternoon

in search of the Orinoco

where the Piaroas prepare their hooks

and the shadows boast of their freshness

under the morichales
