Wi-chian maat: Yesterday, I heard Pee Goi tell Pee Geng that she was ‘Dee jai’ to have met a ‘Jai dee’ person. As soon as she got on the bus, that person got up and gave up that person’s seat for her.

สีสวาด: ทุกวันเนี้ยะ(นี้อ่ะ)หายากแล้วนะคนใจดีหยั่ง(อย่าง)นี้
Si Sawat: Nowadays, it’s getting quite difficult to find a ‘Jai dee’ person like this.

Kao Taem: What? Who’s ‘Jai dee’? Who’s ‘Dee jai’?

วิเชียรมาศ: ไม่มีอะไรหรอก พี่ก้อยเค้า(เขา)มีคนลุกให้นั่งบนรถเมล์ เลยบอกพี่เก่งว่า ดีใจที่ได้เจอคนใจดี
Wi-chian maat: It’s nothing. A person gave up that person’s seat on the bus for Pee Goi and she told Pee Geng that she was ‘Dee jai’ to have met a ‘Jai dee’ person.

สีสวาด: เออ พูดถึง ดีใจ กับ ใจดี ใครสังเกตอะไรได้บ้าง
Si Sawat: Hmm, speaking of ‘Dee jai’ and ‘Jai dee’: anyone notice anything about them?

เก้าแต้ม: ชั้น(ฉัน)รู้ ๆ ทั้งสองคำมีคำว่า ดี และ ใจ แต่สลับที่กัน
Kao Taem: I know! I know! Both have the words ‘Dee’ and ‘Jai’ in them, but their positions are reversed.

วิเชียรมาศ: ใจดี ก็แปลว่า มีใจเอื้อเฟื้อเผื่อแผ่ เมตตากรุณา ไม่โกรธง่าย อย่างเช่น พี่เก่งกับพี่ก้อยใจดีซื้อของมาให้เรากินบ่อย ๆ คุณพ่อคุณแม่ของพี่เก่งพี่ก้อยก็ใจดี ชอบไปทำบุญเลี้ยงอาหารกลางวันเด็กพิการ ส่วน ดีใจ แปลว่า ยินดี ชอบใจ พอใจ เช่น พี่เก่งดีใจที่สอบได้ที่หนึ่ง
Wi-chian maat: ‘Jai dee’ means ‘(to) be generous, compassionate or not easily offended’. For example, Pee Geng and Pee Goi are ‘Jai dee’: they are always buying things for us to eat. Their Mum and Dad are also ‘Jai dee’: they like to make merit by giving lunch treats to disabled children. As for ‘Dee jai’, it means ‘(to) be happy / glad, pleased or satisfied / content’. For example, Pee Geng was ‘Dee jai’ that he ranked number one in his exams.

ผู้บรรยาย: คำว่า ใจดี หมายถึง มีใจเอื้อเฟื้อเผื่อแผ่ เมตตากรุณา ไม่โกรธง่าย ส่วน ดีใจ หมายถึง ยินดี ชอบใจ พอใจ
Narrator: The word ‘Jai dee’ means ‘(to) be generous, compassionate or not easily offended’ whereas ‘Dee jai’ means ‘(to) be happy / glad, pleased or satisfied / content’.

‘Sa-lap tee kwaam-maai bplian’ (สลับที่ความหมายเปลี่ยน) here basically means, as in the case of the compound noun ‘Dee jai’ (ดีใจ), that when you switch the positions of the words ‘Dee’ (ดี) and ‘Jai’ (ใจ), then the meaning of the compound noun changes. In fact, it is a completely different compound noun, i.e. ‘Jai dee’ (ใจดี).
