Detroit Realities #866

The Livernois Fire Dept. and Police Dept. was doing a wellness check on 85-year-old Albert Wright, his family hadn’t heard from him in days. When they went inside, they found 38-year-old Detroiter, Carlos Terry. Terry had broken into the home, tied up Wright, smashed him on the head, and stuffed him in a cabinet; where he died. Terry was caught and arrested as he was stealing items from the home.

What were you doing when you were 17? Two Detroiters that age were just charged with first-degree murder. D’Anthony Kendricks and Damariyon Coleman knocked on the front door to a Detroit home on Smart Street. When the 58-year-old owner opened the door, they both started shooting at him; he later died at the hospital. Thankfully, the Detroit Police homicide detectives were able to track them down.

And finally, in “It is a Darwin move to be anywhere near Detroit” news,

  • A female driver, high on something, ran into the back of a Detroit Police cruiser. She was arrested and the officer is listed in stable condition.
  • During an altercation at Detroit’s W. 7 Mile Rd and Livernois, 3 people were shot, one fatally. A survivor claimed he and a friend were walking to a house when 2 men approached them from the shadows, there was a struggle and then shots were fired.
  • Detroit Police were investigating an abandoned vehicle on Beaverland and discovered a woman’s body inside a garage. The Medical Examiner is working on a cause of death.
  • At a boxing match by Fenkell and Southfield Fwy, 3 people were shot after an argument, wounding 3 people. A 17-year-old girl and 19-year-old man and one other person are all at the hospital.
  • A 31-year-old Detroiter was stopped at a stop sign at Fenkell and Robson when another car pulled up and fired shots, killing him. Detroit Police is asking the public for information about the incident. (Stop at a stop sign in Detroit and you’re at extreme risk of death!)
  • Two bounty hunters tracked a bail absconder in Detroit. When they approached to arrest him, he tried to run them over with an SUV. One of the bounty hunters fired shots, one of which injured their target.
  • There were 2 armed robberies in Detroit yesterday, one was a barbershop and the other was walking down the street by Wilfred and Gunston.
