Detroit Realities #864

Michigan State Troopers on patrol in Detroit witnessed an assailant shooting at a person inside of a vehicle on Warren Avenue. After a short chase, they arrested the man and later found the victim uninjured at a local business. When there are 3 shootings a day, law enforcement is bound to witness a few of them!

Last year, 18-year-old Detroiter Isaiah Wilder was charged with 10 felonies related to a carjacking. But all charges were dropped when the complaining witness failed to appear in court (were they murdered or intimidated by Wilder or his buddies?) But that was last year. This year, Wilder was charged with first-degree murder for stabbing his girlfriend multiple times. The victim, Quianna Coleman was just 17-years-old and the mother of Wilder’s 6-month old child. Wilder is a junior in high school and is electing to represent himself rather than a court-appointed attorney.

And finally, in “It is a Darwin move to be anywhere near Detroit” news,

  • A 21-year-old Detroiter was shot while inside a vehicle by Greenfield and W. Grand River Avenue. When medics arrived, they pronounced him dead from multiple gunshot wounds. Detroit Police is asking for the public’s help if they know anything about the circumstances of the attack.
  • Two young men were found shot to death by 7 Mile Road and Hoover. Detroit Police responded to a 911 call about shots fired and discovered the two men, one inside a car and the other just outside of it.
  • A Detroit Police officer attempted to approach a reported stolen vehicle at Telegraph and 7 Mile Road. The car thief took off, hitting the officer (who fired a shot at the suspect, injuring him) and then ran over a pedestrian who died shortly thereafter. Detroit Police were able to catch the Car Thief/Hit & Run suspect.
  • A Detroit homeowner on Goddard Street was watching TV when he heard someone trying to break into his home. He said, “Get away from my door, you’re about to get shot.” Instead of leaving, the thief began kicking the door. The homeowner fired a shot through the door, injuring the suspect who is now under arrest at the hospital. The homeowner says, it may have been the same person that broke into my garage a few days ago and stole my lawnmower.
  • The City of Detroit announced they were the victim of a date breach and are offering one year of free credit report monitoring for affected people.
