Detroit Realities #857

Any question whether the city of Taylor Police along Telegraph write traffic tickets just to raise money has been answered. Instead of writing tickets for going 2 miles over the speed limit (and being forced to share the money with the court system), Taylor Police now write speeding tickets for “Double Parking” so they can keep ALL the money from the fine. And drivers are happy about it because it isn’t recorded as points on their driver’s license.

Since the Detroit Institute of Art was able to get millage tax money, other non-profits want to join them on the dole as well. The Detroit Zoo and Motown Museum already get taxpayer funding. Now, the Detroit Historical Society and Charles Wright Museum of African American History have hired a consultant to get a millage passed for them as well.

A new hobby of Detroit youth: blocking the highways for 15 minutes so sports cars can do doughnuts across all the lanes of traffic, called “Side Shows” https://www.instagram.com/corecity.cc/

And finally, in “It is a Darwin move to be anywhere near Detroit” news,

  • Detroit Police are searching for two suspects. With ski masks and firearms, they robbed two people and fled by car near Cornwall and Beaconsfield.
  • Detroit Police responded to a 911 call near Evergreen and Ford Road, and came across a 33-year-old man with a gunshot wound. He is now listed in critical condition.
  • A 22-year old driver was shot while driving south on Detroit’s Lodge Freeway. A passenger said he was hit by gunfire from another car, and is now listed in critical condition.
  • On Christmas morning, two Detroit women were shot from a vehicle while 6 people were hanging out in front of a home on Terry Street. Both are listed in temporary serious condition.
  • During an argument on Detroit’s Alcoy Avenue, a 38-year-old woman pulled out a gun a shot a 29-year-old man; now listed in temporary serious condition.
  • A 56-year-old Detroiter walking on Greenfield heard two people arguing and then a gunshot. He realized he was injured by a stray bullet.
  • A 20-year-old man walking on Detroit’s Kopernick Street heard gunshots from a passing car and realized that he had been shot in the leg.
  • A 32-year-old Detroiter survived multiple gunshot wounds when he was walking along 8 Mile Road by Wyoming. Two men started shooting at him.
