Detroit leads the nation in corruption cases. In the last few years, 108 labor leaders, politicians, police officers, and bureaucrats have been charged with federal corruption. Cases involve allegations of: kickbacks, bribes, fraud, money laundering, embezzlement, conspiracy, theft, and obstruction of justice.
Speaking of corruption, Taylor’s Mayor was just charged with stealing $200,000 from his campaign and taking $41,000 in bribes from a real estate developer.
A dozen former gang members are community activists now in Inkster. The group meets once a month to focus on ways to better the community and save youth; so that they don’t go down the wrong path like they did. One member said we tore up the Inkster/Detroit community and now we want to give back. Inkster’s Mayor, Patrick Wimberly says he feels a sense of gratitude toward the group in helping out.
