Detroit Realities #854

Since Detroit is among the highest per-capital crime cities in the U.S., Detroit is one of 7 cities getting $7 million from Trump to address: drug trafficking, street gangs, and other violent crime.

You can’t make this up… A Detroit Demolition Contractor has torn down the wrong home – for the second time! The city paid them $25,000 to take down the home, but they went to the wrong address, 14661 Alma instead of 14461 Alma. Critics claim this is because of State of Michigan licensing requirements for demos – so the good ones have left the state, leaving the most incompetent ones for Detroit. However, one commenter wrote, “It is hard to blame them – I think most every home in Detroit looks like it should be immediately torn down.”

A family of 6 were asleep in their home at 1am in River Rouge near Cora and Jefferson when someone Shot well over a dozen bullets into the home and car. A 25-year-old cousin was asleep on the couch when he was shot in the neck. He is now in intensive care with 2 shattered vertebra and nerve damage. Doctors say it is too risky to remove the bullet. The homeowner, Robert Burnley, says “my car is totaled, so I have no way to get to work. 6 months ago, an unsavory character moved onto the street and there has been one criminal incident after the other. They shot the wrong home but we aren’t taking any chances and moving before nightfall. A family friend setup a GoFundMe page to help:
