One of Detroit’s finest citizens, 30-year-old Michael James Allen, was just charged by the Wayne County Prosecutor, Kim Worthy. Hmm, what were the charges?
- Conspiracy to commit first-degree murder
- Armed robbery
- Firearm possession by a felon
- Carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent
- Firearm discharge in a building
- Firearm discharge with intent to cause serious impairment
- 2 counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm
- 3 counts of assault with intent to murder
- 10 counts of felony firearms
Seems like a great neighbor and community member. How was he caught?
Allen was arrested 3 days after the Shooting by Dearborn Police on suspicion of felony forgery and counterfeiting. Did I mention Allen was out on parole for a charge of false pretenses? Oh, did I mention Allen had been arrested 2 weeks prior to the shooting in Lincoln Park for suspicion of felony assault and a weapons violation? Yeah, those Detroit-area judges sure do keep the community safe…
And finally, in “It is a Darwin move to be anywhere near Detroit” news,
- Detroit Police responded to a 911 call about a shooting at E. Outer Drive and Dequindre, where they found a man in a car dying from a bullet wound. Police have no suspects.
- A Detroit couple, ages 23-24, were arguing when he former boyfriend showed up. The ex-boyfriend became angry and began shooting, grazing the woman before fleeing in the area of Plymouth Rd. and Heyden.
- 20-year-old Detroiter Alberto Jackson is a member of the Latin Counts street gang. He was just sentenced to 30 years in prison for a drive-by shooting where he accidentally shot 3 people while missing his intended target. However, Jackson accidentally killed a fellow gang member that was on the other side of the target vehicle spraying bullets at the target. Jackson is a member of the “Toledo Mafia Counts,” a subset of the Latin Counts that was formed around Detroit’s Toledo Street. Jackson said, “If you don’t join the gang in my neighborhood, you’re continually beat up and harassed.”
- Within 2 hours, Detroit Police began investigations into bodies (with homicide injuries) found at vacant homes, a woman on Meldrum Street and a man on Princeton Street.
