Detroit’s Mayor Duggan ran out of the free Obama Money to tear down blighted homes. He ran through $265 million in federal money and several corruption prison sentences from the program. You’ll never guess – he wants more free money because there are still more than 20,000 blighted homes! This time, he wants to sell $250 million in bonds to get free money. You have GOT to be kidding. The city is broke! The pensions are seriously underfunded! Where is the money going to come from to pay the $250M back, plus interest?? Bankruptcy – here we go again. I recommend the mayor take a financial literacy course instead…

Speaking of being broke… Detroit Firefighters attempting to use several fire hydrants on Outer Drive to treat a house fire on E. Outer Drive – but none of them were working. One person died from them not having access to water to get to him. It turns out 12 hydrants were not working from Water Dept. maintenance, but they failed to notify the Fire Dept (which they are mandated to do, but always have lame excuses why they didn’t. This time, it cost a Detroiter their life). 

Detroit Dog Rescue says, “Detroit Animal Control gets 400 complaints every week.” This is because the city is overrun with strays and aggressive dogs from chronic and pervasive improper care. The result is an epidemic of dog bites, attacks, and packs of wild dogs on the loose.  

And finally, in “It is a Darwin move to be anywhere near Detroit” news,

• A 29-year-old from Lapeer was arrested for a Hit & Run in Detroit on Gratiot. He killed a 65-year-old Detroiter (just after lunch time) who was promoting an oil change shop with friends.
• A 3-year-old Detroit girl is in stable condition after being attacked by a Pit Bull on Preston.
• A 58-year-old man died from being deliberately run over in a Hit & Run at a Detroit Coney Island on 8 Mile Rd.
• A 28-year-old woman died after she stumbled out of an alley with multiple stab wounds on Michigan Ave. at 4pm. Witnesses say she was arguing with a man just before the stabbing.
• 13-year-old Damaura Perkins was killed in a car accident. She and some friends unknowingly got into a vehicle for a ride home that had been stolen. The driver began driving erratically and the passengers begged her to stop and pull over. Instead, she ran into a tree, killing Damaura instantly.
• Detroit Police are investigating a shooting at W. McNichols and Meyers, one victim is being treated at the hospital.
• A Dodge Charger pulled up to a fastfood drive-through window, pulled out a handgun with an extended magazine, and grabbed all paper money out of the cash register before fleeing. There is surveillance video of the incident.
• A 50-year-old fatally shot a 61-year-old man at a Detroit Bar on E. Warren by Cadieux.
