A few days after a 4-year-old Detroiter was shot in the leg, a 15-year-old Detroiter was shot playing basketball at 6pm near Greenlawn Street and Puritan Avenue. The 15-year-old is listed in temporary serious condition.

Detroit’s 911 Director has been replaced due to an audit revealing chronic delays and problems in responding to 911 Emergency calls. It turns out that most people wait hours for a response when the bad guys are all long gone, which is why so many take themselves to the hospital after being injured in a violent crime. For example, an elderly woman living alone woke up to a home invader punching her in the face and stealing valuables. It took 7 hours for Detroit Police to show up after 5 calls to 911. What if she had been seriously injured? Even the most desperate calls don’t get a response: active shooters, rapes in progress, armed robberies, suicides in progress, etc. As this blog has pointed out for years – you are totally on your own in Detroit, a no-mans land, a Wild West, a place WROL (without the rule of law), and it is a Darwin move to go anywhere near the city limits. If you need 911 service, you’ll likely get an automated message because the average wait time is 37 seconds, many wait more than 2 minutes on hold before they can access a 911 operator.

Speaking of shootings, there was another double shooting on Detroit’s Morang Avenue, one died and one is in surgery. Since they were both privately taken to the hospital, the circumstances of the shooting are unknown.

• A man was walking near W. Warren when a pickup truck pulled up to him, two men jumped out and beat the man unconscious. Detroit Police captured one of the suspects and the victim says he was defending his sister.
• A 46-year-old Detroiter was mugged and carjacked by 3 very young men on Rutherford, west of Greenfield.
• Detroit Police are investigating a shooting at 8 Mile Lahser. People in 2 vehicles started shooting at each other, at least one person is dead. Due to illegal drugs in one of the cars, police believe the shooting was likely to be drug related.
• On Detroit’s Outer Drive E, a home invader raped a 12-year-old boy, police are investigating.
• Families on their way to the Romulus fireworks display saw people running from it. Turns out 12 were arrested for fighting and kids were lighting fireworks in crowds.
• A 39-year-old woman was carjacked by 2 men on Braile Street next to an Elementary School, the victim said they were 18-20 years old.
• The Michigan Humane Society will care for 50 birds taken from a Detroit home on McDougall, many are chickens.
• Three people were non-fatally shot in a drive-by near 7 Mile Road and Ryan. There was a party at a home when someone inside a Dodge charger began firing.
