Detroit Realities #806

Detroiter Henry Ford is a 3-time convicted car thief. On parole, he cut his tether and mailed it the Dept. of Corrections. US Marshalls are hunting for him and he is still a car thief – stealing cars, tires, GPS units, and is living somewhere on the west side of Detroit.

More details of the killing 15-year-old Donell Johnson. He was sitting on his minibike on the sidewalk in front of his home off 7 Mile Road. A speeding car blew threw a stop sign on Helen Street, lost control of the car, and struck Donell as he was trying to get out of the way. After hitting Donell (at what witnesses guess was 60MPH), the car struck 2 houses. The driver was not impaired and was arrest for Reckless Driving Causing Death.

And finally, in “It is a Darwin move to be anywhere near Detroit” news,

  • Detroit Police have released a sketch of a man that allegedly raped a teenager on the city’s east side.
  • On Pinehurst Street, there has been a vacant home causing problems for neighbors. Since it is owned by the Detroit Lank Bank, they’ve been calling the city for 10 years to fix it up, to no avail. So they called a local news show and they finally cleared the yard with shrubs and trees hanging into neighbor’s yards.
  • A 23-year-old Detroiter was chased down by neighbors after attempting to mug a woman in front of her home. She screamed, several neighbors noticed and caught the man and held him for the police.
  • A pedestrian was killed in Corktown at 2am by a teen driver, witnesses say the man jumped in front of the moving car.
  • A dispute between neighbors by Greenfield and Tireman turned into the shooting death of a 45-year-old woman. No suspect information was available.
  • A 66-year-old man was beaten and robbed at a Detroit gas station off 7 Mile Road.
  • A Detroit gas station customer got into an argument with the attendant. Naturally, the customer then poured gasoline inside the station and set it on fire before fleeing. Thankfully, the Detroit Fire Dept. was able to put the fire out.
  • A 42-year-old man is in critical condition after a Hit & Run in downtown Detroit on W. Adams.
